Welcome to Copper Point Veterinary Hospital, a full-service small animal hospital born from a lifelong passion for animal care. Founded by Dr. Allen Privette after more than 25 years in veterinary medicine, our practice is built on a simple mission: to treat every patient who walks through our doors with the exact same love, dedication, and care that we give to our own pets.
Thanks to our wonderful, loyal clients, our practice has been fortunate to grow. Because of this growth, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Elizabeth Moorefield to our team as a full-time veterinarian. Dr. Moorefield brings 19 years of clinical experience, including over 15 years in companion animal medicine. An Auburn University graduate, she has advanced training in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, and cardiology. As an Elite Fear Free, Feline Friendly, and Low Stress Handling® Silver Certified professional, she is deeply committed to gentle, individualized care and open communication with our pet families.
You might wonder where the name "Copper Point" comes from. Our name and logo are a heartfelt tribute to Skeeter (affectionately known as Skee), Dr. Privette's faithful Australian Shepherd sidekick for over 16 years. Standard Australian Shepherd coats often feature the distinct tan markings known as "copper points." Skee was famous for his calm demeanor, his striking blue eye, and his deep copper points.
The writer W.R. Purche once said, "Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong." At Copper Point, that philosophy shapes our daily practice. We know that every pet is the absolute best companion to the family who loves them.
Though Skee passed away in February 2021, we keep his legacy alive every day. For our team, the name Copper Point represents the wonderful qualities Skee brought to life—loyalty, consistency, and kindness, always served with a healthy dose of silliness and humor.
Dr. Privette, Dr. Moorefield, and the entire Copper Point team are deeply grateful for your continued trust, and we look forward to caring for your beloved pets for many years to come!
